Sojourn, Crossing the Wilderness of Desperation

Sojourn, Crossing the Wilderness of Desperation

A lost job. A confusing situation—events like these land us in a Wilderness of Desperation. Driven to Jesus, we sometimes demand a clarification over what has happened. And Jesus tells us something so profound it’s difficult to put into an old way of thinking. I need Him to stretch my faith, my trust, my conception of God Himself in order to comprehend. Or we sometimes simply fall at His feet, wretched in our sorrow. He weeps with us. Either way, we receive grace upon grace out of the fullness of His being.[1]

In the wilderness of desperation, look for the God Who has opened an opportunity for faith that is stretched to receive more of God—more divine grace, more love, a deeper consecration. We can rejoice even in our desperation because it means He has considered us ready to receive Divine Truth that can’t be contained in old ways of thinking. We must be stretched to accept and understand, stretched in accord with the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.[2] It’s a divine stretching that leads to a divine consecration for His purposes.

In the Wilderness of Desperation, rejoice because it is a sojourner’s walk of faith. Crossing the Wilderness of Desperation means you and I are ready for God to reveal more of Himself to us.
