Writer, amateur astronomer, and astrophotographer, Dr. Lisa A Baird, lives in St. Augustine, Florida and teaches at the University of Central Florida.
To Dr. Baird, the most exciting thing about astronomy is the way stars are a lot like people. They form families and communities and sometimes even share their stellar material with each other.
Baird has written a series of devotionals to connect observing God's creation to worshiping God as Creator. Her devotionals, Right Ascensions, are for everyone who has watched an eclipse or witnessed a shooting star. Each entry brings the believer into closer communion with the Creator and Author of all we see. Right Ascensions reminds us that He upholds all things by the Word of His power (Hebrews 1:3).
Dr. Baird's tips for amateur astronomers: Always pack a dew shield.
Be ready always to give an answer to everyone who asks the reason for the hope within you.'
